Fun Fall Books!

I try to rotate books monthly, so that the kids always have books that fit with the general theme of what we're doing in school.  Since we're working on Thanksgiving, I thought I'd share what fall-themed books we have out.  I'll bring out our Thanksgiving books for the kids next week, closer to Thanksgiving.

Fall Leaves Fall! This is a Scholastic book, written by Zoe Hall.  This is an adorable book, that is, unfortunately, out of print.  I grabbed this copy in an ebay auction two weeks ago, because I wasn't able to find it anywhere else for purchase!  If you find a copy somewhere, I highly recommend it!  Scholastic even has a cute "lesson plan" of extension activities on their website here.  I love that this book includes information about different types of leaves!

Sixteen Runaway Pumpkins.  This is also a Scholastic book, by Dianne Ochiltree.  There are copies used on Amazon, but educators can buy it through the Scholastic teacher's store.  This book always puts us in the mood to make a homemade pumpkin pie!

When Autumn Comes.  This is by Robert Maass, and it's a nicely written book for kids about the the things that happen when autumn comes.  It includes the weather changes, autumn foods, leaves, harvest time on the farm, Halloween, and Thanksgiving.  This is the Princess' favorite book about Fall!

Fall Changes.  This is by Ellen B. Senisi, and it's a cute book about encouraging kids to observe the changes that occur in fall.

We're going on a Leaf Hunt. This is yet another Scholastic book, by Steve Metzger.  Did the title of this book remind you of the little game "we're going on a bear hunt"?  That's actually what prompted me to pick it up - and it is, in fact, the same rhythm as "we're going on a bear hunt", but it takes about leaves!  Bigger Bit loves this book!

We love book suggestions, so we'd love to hear what fall or Thanksgiving books your family enjoys!
