Feelin' Crafty: Kid-Made Thanksgiving Napkin Rings

Check out our kid-made Thanksgiving napkin rings!  This was a pretty easy craft that turned out super-cute!  We have a very "kid-friendly" Thanksgiving, so these will be appreciated as a cute addition to our fun table.  If you have a more formal Thanksgiving planned, maybe these would be cute as a Thanksgiving breakfast napkin holder, or for a fall party?

We started with small circle with two holes punched in each one, white school glue, glitter (we used gold, any color is fine), and pipe cleaners (I only had narrow pipe cleaners, so I used two twisted together).  I cut the pipe cleaners to make a nice sized napkin ring (for me, one pipe cleaner made 2 napkin rings, but those are a VERY generous size, to make them easier for little hands.

My kids are still pretty little, so I let them make whatever "design" out of glue they wanted on their white circles.  If you have older kids (handier with a glue bottle), then maybe they could do the initial of everyone at Thanksgiving dinner, or a special design?

Sprinkle the glitter on -- oh, this was Bigger Bit's FAVORITE part!  She LOVES glitter!

Kids tend to pile lots of glitter on things...

Pretty designs.

When the glue dries, run the pipe cleaner through the napkin ring.  (Helpful hint: run it in though the top of the napkin ring, then across to the other hole under the ring.  That way, the glittery design will show and you won't rub all your glitter off onto the pipe cleaner.)  This is good practice for little hands, but my kids all needed some help.

Shape and twist the pipe cleaner so it holds the ring shape, and you're done!

Here's a view of one from the top, to help you visualize.

(Disclaimer: No matter how hard you try to help the kids be "neat", it is likely that there will be glitter EVERYWHERE by the time you are done this craft.)
