"Autumn Apples" object cards...

Today we discovered our "Autumn Apples" object cards.  They're simple laminated papers, each with a picture and the name of one of the objects in our sensory box.  This month, I chose "acorn", "apple", and "leaf" for our name cards.  After much internal debate, I included "tree" as well.  While not strictly an object in our sensory box, it seemed relevant enough to the rest of the objects to be included.

While they seem simple, these are always a huge hit at our house!  They've been wonderful for expanding bigger bit's vocabulary. If there's an object in the sensory box that she's unfamiliar with or forgets the name of, she can grab the card to ask what the name is.

The princess and bub use them to reinforce basic letter and reading skills.  Today, they chose to match the words on the card with clothes pin letters (just basic clothes pins with letters written on them).

They also frequently pull out the box and the cards together, and match the cards with the objects in the box.

My autumn name cards, with "Acorn" "Apple" "Leaf" and "Tree" (all in capital letters) are available for free as a download in Scribd.  (For personal use only, please.)
